Gender-Based Violence & Child Protection

Gender-Based Violence and Child Protection

In South Africa, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and child abuse remain deeply rooted social issues, especially in under-resourced rural areas. Girls and young women face increased risk of exploitation, while many children suffer in silence due to poverty, family breakdown, or limited access to support systems.

At Isibani Organisation, we believe no child should feel unsafe in their home, school, or community. Our GBV & Child Protection programme is designed to educate, prevent, and protect-while building a community that stands up for its most vulnerable

Our Vision

To create safe, supportive, and inclusive environments where children and youth-especially girls-can grow, learn, and thrive free from violence, exploitation, or discrimination.

What We Do

Our approach is community-driven, prevention-focused, and dignity-based. We integrate GBV prevention and child protection into all our work, especially where learners are most vulnerable-at school, at home, and in transition to adulthood.

Core Programme Activities
  • School Uniform and Dignity Support - We provide school uniforms, shoes, and hygiene kits to vulnerable learners-particularly girls-who are at risk of bullying, stigma, or transactional relationships due to poverty. When a child looks and feels like a student, they’re more likely to stay in school and out of harm’s way.
  • Awareness Campaigns and Dialogues - We host workshops, school talks, church engagements, and youth dialogues to raise awareness on GBV, gender equality, consent, emotional safety, and healthy relationships.
  • Life Skills and Empowerment Sessions - Integrated into our sports, health, and education programmes, these sessions help youth build confidence, boundaries, and resilience—while also learning how to access help when needed.
